Catawba County Parent Education Program

Parent education and support using the Parents As Teachers®
curriculum. Parent Educators provide home visits, facilitate
parent group meetings, and help the county with transition
to Kindergarten. Educators also provide support to the More
at Four program. Services available in Spanish (call

Catawba County Parenting Network

A coordinated system for al parenting education and support
opportunities in the community. Offers a wide variety of
parenting programs including Active Parenting, Strengthening Families, Nurturing,
Parents Anonymous, single-session workshops,
self-study
courses, and many more.
Child Care Scholarships/Subsidies

Financial assistance through the
Division of Child Development
and
Catawba County Social Services
to enable income-eligible children to attend quality child
care programs. Also provides supplemental funds to child care
centers with higher level licenses to help them maintain
quality.
Children’s Advocacy Center

Provides a continuum of services to victims of child sexual
abuse.
Children’s Resource Center

A resource and referral agency which provides families with an
easy way to find licensed child care centers, family child
care homes, and other preschool programs, and learn more about
quality child care and other available services. Serves as a
main contact for parents to access programming through the
Parenting Network. Provides training and support for child
care providers and maintains a special emphasis on improving
professional development of child care staff.
Dental Health Services & Education

Presents the "Tooth Time" dental education curriculum to
preschool children in child care settings and also coordinates
dental care through
Catawba County Public Health
and a variety of other dental health providers for
income-eligible preschool children who have tooth decay.
Early Childhood Professional
Development Coordinator

Early Childhood Professional Development Coordinator with
Catawba Valley Community College
will provide support, instruction, and professional
development planning to promote increased education levels of
child care staff in Catawba and Alexander counties.
Early Childhood Support Team

Multidisciplinary team made up of nurses, behavior
specialists, and educational specialists who provide
consultation services for child care programs. Also provides
individual counseling and support for children who are
experiencing difficulties in child care settings. A

Tyndall Center Therapeutic Preschool

Sipe’s Orchard Home provides
therapeutic preschool opportunities for preschoolers who have
been excluded from traditional day cares for atypical
behaviors.
