The Children’s Protection
Council, founded in 1975, is a citizen-supported voluntary
organization that is dedicated to providing leadership, support,
and coordination for the prevention of child abuse and neglect in
Catawba County.

The Children’s Protection
Council... |
- meets monthly to plan and
implement strategies to prevent child abuse and neglect;
- supports local human services
workers and agencies;
- arranges public meetings and
workshops about child abuse and neglect;
- develops public awareness and
public education information;
- calls public attention to this
difficult problem and how it may be prevented;
- aids victims through the Erlene
Sigmon Fund;
- sponsors the annual
Hancock-Settlemyre Award.
